Those long days locked on pixels and polygons need a flavor, so look no further than this guide to food for gamers!

Ever gamer needs to have some flavor going on when they're spending hours on end ignoring the outside world, so we present: The Gamer's Food Guide!

Now there tend to be some staples like pizza and chips, but realistically, these don't do much good. You end up with greasy hands with causes the controller to slip.

So seriously, cut out the grease.

Basic Foods

Ideally, you'll want to stock a supply of beef jerky.

Jerky is made by drying out meat and salting it to keep it preserved. This way it won't spoil should eating get neglected, plus it requires no preparation.

And for those who think eating meat while killing on-screen characters is wrong, vegan jerky is available.

As for beverages, energy drinks (like Red Bull) tend to be popular (especially among MMORPG players.)

Energy drinks provide a quick burst of energy, usually due to large quantities of caffeine (generally between 80 and 90 milligrams.) The drinks contain other ingredients the manufacturer's claim provide energy though most experts agree that the effect of those is psychological.

Of course, warnings on these drinks indicate that they are dangerous to children, pregnant or breast-feeding women and should not be mixed with alcohol.

The can usually warns not to consume more than between 500 and 1000 milliliters of caffeine per day (depending on the product)

Other Beverages

Cola-type beverages, which don't have the same quantity of caffeine are also quite popular among gamers. They provide some alertness while not carrying the same risks as energy drinks.

Coffee is a bad idea as it usually causes far too many trips to the bathroom.

Breakfast, the most import meal of the day

You're bound to wake up at some point and that'll require breakfast.

The best bet is sugary cereal, no prep time and well, is contains sugar.

According to a U.K. report, the worst (or best) cereals for sugar content include Corn Pops and Golden Grahams.

Sadly, Pac-Man Crunch is no longer available.

Other foods

The classic peanut butter sandwich is always useful. The bread is filling and the peanut butter contains many nutrients, similar to those found in meat.

Plus, bread is often enriched with the latest fad ingredient, Omega-3 which claims to improve brain function. Those with fish allergies should be careful though, since one of the main sources of Omega-3 is fish oil.

And lets hear from you
