Sony's much anticipated Little Big Planet will likely be everything it's hyped to be and more. With a potential push-backed release date one can only hope the company is further enhancing this incredibly innovative title.
The game is so different then anything anyone has seen that it is listed on the PS3 forum under its own category of "Awesomecool". The physics based game play allows for players to manipulate their players "sack boys" as well as their environment. Players can create small level objects or vast worlds only hampered by a player’s imagination.
The PSN network will also allow players to share their environments and play with others on the network and place their "world" on the map so others can chill in their playground while they are offline.
According to reports players will also be given objectives that will result in gaining new objects to add to their personal playgrounds. A demo was rumored for late 2007 but that didn't happen. It's now geared for early in 2008 but no official information is released regarding that and the full version release date seems to be up in the air as well. Originally it was slated for April of 2008 but some are suggesting it could be pushed back to as late as September and Amazon has pre-orders with Sept. ship dates, so time will only tell.
Either way this game is sure to be worth the wait. 2008 is geared up to be the year of the PS3 ad Sony and it’s subsidiaries are doing everything they can to release titles that use everything the PS3 can handle. 2008 will likely begin with the momentum from 2007 release titles and system sales boosts.
In 2007 Sony sent out Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. The action adventure game was loved by all who played it. Viewers and critics loved everything for the movie-like story line to the impeccable graphics. The game went on to sell 1 million + copies and a second title is already in the works.
Around the same time Call of Duty 4 was released along with Unreal Tournament 3. Both games have been acclaimed for their online multi-player modes and their excellent graphics. Months after its release Call of Duty continues to expand its online community, unlike most games that see a drop in the online gaming feature after a few months. Unreal Tournament is having similar success.
The PS3 has also seen great success with Burnout Paradise and is partnered with some great gaming companies to produce outstanding PS3 exclusives in the upcoming year.
